Is dying painful, or do people feel peace at the end?

“I just felt complete peace. I mean, I was interested in hearing what I was being told, but I was at complete peace. And there is nothing at all to fear. You didn't feel any pain or suffering or No. No. And interestingly enough, I haven't really felt a lot of pain or suffering at all since. At any point, you know, while I was wherever I was, or since coming back, I've taken zero pain medications, and I'm just allowing my body to heal. I'm in a state of healing and allowing my body to heal.”18:18

“So you were at peace with dying?”20:50

“I had this great peace that came over me when I thought I was dying, it just took all the fear away.”0:59

“It was as if my complete peace with the idea of death helped will my body into giving up, not resisting the process. I was totally and utterly at peace and so pleased with this concept. I felt some kind of a floating feeling and started to see differently my body on the bed and my friend crying frantically. For a tiny moment, I felt sorry for my body as if an old friend who I had empathized with, but I was done with it and wanted to move on without it.”2:08

I spent 12 days waiting to die, not knowing in what manner I would be killed, and of course, imagining the worst possible way. But there I was, after this experience, absolutely… um… smiling. I had no clue how it was going to happen, when it was going to happen, but I knew it would be okay.”8:39

“And it was at that point that I left the hospital, I left all the agony that I was in, and I left the drama of it all. And, and I suddenly, in a, in a much calmer place. I was in, like, what seemed to me at the first to be a darkened space, a darkened room, and I looked around me, uh, figuring that I was dead. I figured, okay, this is it. I didn't make it. And I didn't feel scared, I didn't resist it, and I didn't want to die. But I was, from what I've just been through, was, which was so horrific, it just felt great to feel calm and no pain whatsoever.”12:33

“And when I was there on the other side, I recognized I didn't have any pain. I felt weightless. I felt like I was alive but not in a body. And I know that must sound trite; it was true. I felt this consciousness, this vibrant feeling of freedom coming out of that heavy, miserable, painful body, and I knew everything was going to be okay. I felt very, very serene, felt so peaceful.”5:14

“My body felt peace, my, it felt calm, painless, and my mind was silent for the first time in my whole life.”38:55

“Yes, I did. Yeah, I felt very, very in awe of it. Yeah, and I didn't expect to wake up. I was at peace with dying. It was something that didn't scare me. I was just, my time was up. So when I woke up, it was just, oh, I didn't go. Okay, I'm okay with that, too.”14:14

“I had no pain at all. The only time I had pain was after I came back in my body, and then I had this incredibly banged up body. I didn't break one bone, which was, like, just extraordinary. But I, I had to heal, and it took me over years here to heal. But, um, I have had the opportunity and the honor to speak with many people who have crossed over, and there's no pain at death. And people wonder, "Are they happy?" Are they? Yes, yes, yes. It's like it really is going home. Like Chloe said to me one day, "Mom, she said, "If you only knew, if you all only knew how amazing it was, you wouldn't want to stick around in the body, you would would want to get out of there."”41:04
