“So, um, the experience itself happened pretty much, um, while I was in the ICU in the hospital, and by the fifth day, both my lungs had pretty much given up and shut down, and my family was kind of given, you know, a chance to say, you know, we've done everything we can, but you've got to prepare. So that's kind of the feel of what was happening the day I had my NDE. Being in there, but my recollection is completely different. You know, for me, uh, what happened that day was I woke up, like the way I'm sitting in front of you, I woke up. I was like, oh, I look over to my right, and all of a sudden, first, I realize I'm awake, and I'm sitting in the ICU room. So there's no surprise, it's not like I'm shocked. Oh my God, where I'm at. So the body flatlined, and here I was just floating serenely in a sense of just whiteness. It was real serenity, it was really peaceful, and I saw the nurses race in to attend to the body and just try to revive me. And while that was all happening, I was just blissfully observing. And all of a sudden, there was this booming male voice that came in to the left side of me, and it said, it's not your time yet. And with that, I was automatically put straight into my physical body again. So I did not regain consciousness at that time; I stayed in this unconscious state of being. And then the very next day, the same thing happened again. An aspect of me floated up to the ceiling, looking down at the physical body, and I was aware that, you know, the body had lost a lot of blood, I was very weak, and they weren't sure what was going to happen. And then all of a sudden, while I'm just blissfully floating here, this great big male voice came in again and said, exactly the same thing, it's not your time yet. And it was like lightning speed, I was back in my body. It was like a bit of a jolt. I could feel that reconnection with the physical body, and then I started recovering.”4:50

“As with any condition, there are some identifying characteristics, some the common characteristics of near-death experiences are, um, people feel a sensation of coming out of their physical body, possibly fe, uh, being up at the ceiling and watching and hearing everything that is happening before them, might be during a resuscitation or during an accident.”12:22

An elderly woman who was blind since birth saw instruments, techniques, and what the surgeons and the hospital, the operating room personnel were wearing, and she described things in in exact visual detail. Now, one of the criticisms is that when you're dying that you're just drawing upon stored memories. But if this woman were blind since birth, and that information was never in her brain, how is it that when she's dying, is she suddenly having these experiences?”8:06

“And I remained in a coma. And during that coma is when I had what I'll call my near-death experience. I can't tell you when it began or really when it ended, except that I remember returning to my body. But it started with being in a black void place of black, kind of velvety softness. I say void because I didn't really see any margins, it was just, or any boundaries. I just felt like I was floating in this black space. And, and I guess I can laugh now because my sense of humor was intact because I remember thinking, Okay, I think I'm dead. And then, but I wasn't frightened. There was no fear at all. And what does a good nurse do when you're not sure of a diagnosis? Or you do an assessment. You do a physical exam. So I thought, Okay, I'm going to check. I'm going to check for my body. And I felt for my head and my arms and my legs. No head check. You know, no arms check. No legs. Okay, assessment correct. You are out of your body. Now, did this, this didn't frighten me. I thought, Wow, this is pretty cool.”14:27
