Peter Panagore's NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE | Why do Humans Cause Suffering??
What Researchers Found
The Story
Peter Panagor was a 21-year-old exchange student at Montana State University in 1980. He experienced a near-death event during an ice climb in Canada when hypothermia set in after sunset on a steep pitch. Peter fell asleep on a ledge and his vision tunneled to black, but he remained conscious. An orb of intelligent energy pulled him out of his body into a vast darkness. He became an orb of consciousness and realized his true self. A portal opened to a radiant flow, and he touched it, hearing his soul called. He underwent a life review, feeling the pain he caused others from their perspectives, judged against divine love, and received forgiveness. Infilled with love, beauty, and wholeness, he expanded in bliss. He saw Earth and its veiled people, felt divine love for all, and chose to return after learning he could come back. After the NDE, Peter dedicated his life to spiritual practices like meditation and kriya yoga. He became a preacher for 18 years, wrote a book, and now runs 'Not Church Sundays' to teach Jesus's words through an NDE lens. He focuses on inner connection to the divine and loving others.
“and love is what god is god is love and that's one thing but the other way”
This NDE lacks any veridical perception claims, featuring only subjective spiritual experiences like life review and heavenly visions without impossible sensory access to verifiable physical details. Medical severity is high due to advanced hypothermia and clinical death perception by partner, but absence of specific, verified external perceptions limits evidential strength entirely.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
