Part 1 of 3: NDEs of Shaun Lether (leader of Hawaiian IANDS)

The Story
Sean Lether, born in Salt Lake City to an LDS family, had his first near-death experience at six months old due to severe lung and immune issues that required ICU care. He does not recall details but gained a deep connection to the Divine, including clairvoyance and empathy. As a child, he had visions of dangers like a boat robbery, truck tip-over, and barn fire, but family ignored them. He faced abuse and dark entities, which he banished through prayer. At 18, he moved to California for acting, then studied religions and had a spiritual awakening with a guiding voice. In 2004, at age 35, a strangulated abdominal hernia during a flight to Hawaii caused his main NDE. He felt life slipping away, entered a dark void, argued against dying with a presence, saw a tunnel of light, initially avoided it but entered, and woke after surgery removing seven feet of necrotic intestines. After the NDE, Sean moved permanently to Hawaii, sold his California assets, lost everything in the 2008 financial collapse, deepened spiritual practices like astral projection and healing modalities, and gained freedom from material attachments for true awakening.
“it was God or who it was all I knew is that I was arguing that I can't die now”
The account details two medically severe NDEs (infant ICU near-death and adult strangulated hernia with necrotic bowel) but recounts no veridical perceptions of real-world events during the experiences, only a dark void/tunnel and later psi abilities like precognition; lack of any specific, verified perceptions during NDEs limits evidential strength.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
