The Story
Bruce Vetter, a diesel mechanic, experienced his NDE on November 16, 2006, when a Peterbilt truck's front axle fell on him while he was underneath diagnosing an oil leak. The axle, held only by a jack without safety stands, crushed his midsection, severing arteries, breaking vertebrae L4 and L5, collapsing his lungs, and stopping his heart multiple times. During the NDE, Bruce's spirit left his body and floated above the garage in perfect peace. He saw two 8-foot angels in white robes kneeling beside his body, touching the crushed area. He observed first responders arrive, including Shannon checking for a pulse. His spirit entered a tunnel with bright light toward heaven three times but was pulled back each time by Shannon's calls of 'Bruce Vetter, come back!' and slaps to his face. He heard God's whisper: 'If you want to live, you're going to have to fight, and it's going to be a hard fight.' Angels were visible only out-of-body. After the NDE, Bruce spent over a year in the hospital with multiple surgeries and rehab to relearn walking, reading, and writing. A prayer miracle regrew half his intestines, saving his life. In 2008, he and his wife started Sweet Bread Ministries, leaving his successful business for full-time sharing of his testimony to affirm God's reality and spiritual realm.
