Mary Grace: Talking to God and Grandma
What Researchers Found
The Story
Mary Grace was a 41-year-old woman with epilepsy, lupus, addiction, and depression. She experienced her NDE on November 2nd while driving on an expressway in Rochester, New York, after buying drugs and alcohol. She heard a song she saw as a sign from God, felt an electrical shock, and believed she had cardiac arrest. She pulled into a bookstore parking lot and lost consciousness. During the NDE, she floated toward a bright light filled with intense love and peace. The light enveloped her, merged with her, and erased all pain. She recognized God as her creator and felt secure and healed. She had a life review. God communicated that he granted her requests for proof and healing but she must return because her work was not done. She felt at peace with this and returned to her car after 45 minutes. After the NDE, Mary quit drugs and alcohol immediately. Her seizures stopped, energy increased, and tests showed she was disease-free. She tapered off all 24 medications over six months. Her life changed; she felt connected to everything and started a ministry. She faced excommunication from her Catholic church but joined a welcoming one and wrote a book on spirit communication.

This NDE lacks any veridical perception claims, such as observations of physical events or details unverifiable by ordinary senses, rendering evidential strength minimal. The experience is purely internal and spiritual, with no specific, verifiable external perceptions reported. Medical severity provides some evidential base, but absence of perceptual claims limits the overall score.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
