Dr Eben Alexander "You Have Nothing To Fear." Near-Death Experience
What Researchers Found
The Story
Dr. Eben Alexander, a neurosurgeon, experienced a near-death event in November 2008 due to a severe case of E. coli bacterial meningitis that caused a week-long coma. During the NDE, he first entered a primitive realm like an earthworm's eye view in dirty Jell-O. A spinning white light with music rescued him and led to a gateway valley of ideals. There, he had a life review, became a speck on a butterfly wing amid millions of butterflies, saw dancing beings and angelic choirs, and met a guardian angel who telepathically shared messages of love, no fear, and care. He ascended through portals to the core, an infinite blackness filled with divine love, realizing consciousness comes from God. He cycled through realms multiple times before seeing family faces, including his son, which pulled him back. After the NDE, Alexander lost his materialist views, embraced spirituality, wrote books on consciousness, meditates daily, teaches about oneness and love, and lives without fear of death.
“kind of light of Love uh and in that formations and uh uh the best part about”
Exceptional medical severity with peer-reviewed confirmation of profound brain impairment rules out hallucinations, but no veridical perceptions of physical events, conversations, or details from an impossible vantage point; the NDE consists entirely of internal spiritual realms without checkable real-world claims.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
