The Story
An 8-year-old boy in 1963 suffered from appendicitis, initially misdiagnosed as the flu. He became severely dehydrated and was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. During the operation, under ether anesthesia, he had a near-death experience. He left his body and entered blackness where he could still think but felt no pain. He saw happy spirits rising from Earth after death. Dark, angry spirits attacked him because he was tethered to his body by a spiritual cord. Frightened, he called out to God for help. An angel with glowing light arrived, scaring away the attackers. The angel cut the cord and placed him in a protective bubble that carried him upward. There, he met Jesus, who showed him brilliant light filled with love that nourished his soul. Jesus played with him and emphasized equality and unconditional love for all people. Later in life, the boy analyzed the experience and shifted from a fearful view of God to one of loving acceptance and equality for everyone, regardless of background.
“I felt so good. Mom came home and I told her about the whole incident, you know, passing out and everything she got more”
The account features a classic out-of-body experience viewing one's own body during surgery under anesthesia, but lacks any specific, verifiable details about real-world events, conversations, or objects. No verification attempts or confirmations are mentioned, and the experience is dominated by unverifiable spiritual visions, limiting evidential strength.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
