The Story
Pastor Dean A. Braxton experienced a near-death event in 2006 due to a kidney stone procedure that caused an infection and sepsis, leading to the failure of 29 organs and clinical death for one hour and 45 minutes. During the NDE, he left his body and moved quickly toward a bright light, feeling immense peace and joy. He saw millions of prayers from Earth passing him by on their way to heaven. Entering the light, he felt overwhelming peace, a perfect fit in the environment, and everything there, including angels, redeemed people, plants, and nature, welcomed him gladly. He met his grandmother and relatives, then encountered Jesus, experiencing His tailored love without a review of sins, and thanked Him for past presence in his life. Jesus instructed him three times to return. After the NDE, Braxton fully recovered without side effects. He wrote books about his experience, continued ministry for over 20 years, and shared his testimony, leading thousands to faith in God.

This NDE features a severe medical crisis with clinical death, but lacks substantive veridical perceptions. The sole OBE claim is a vague observation of room activity that is predictable, unverified, and lacks impossible access or specificity, resulting in low evidential strength.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
