The Story
Howard Storm was an atheist art professor. His NDE occurred during a medical emergency in the hospital from a perforated esophagus. In despair, he recalled his childhood faith and desperately called on Jesus. A bright light appeared with Jesus inside. Storm saw his damaged body, but Jesus touched him, restored him, and filled him with personal love. Jesus held and comforted him. They moved from darkness to a world of light. Jesus assured Storm he belonged there and knew all his thoughts. Storm met beautiful beings in light who showed him his life review. He saw his happy childhood turn into a self-centered, hurtful life that pained Jesus and the beings. They answered his questions about life, showing past and future events. Storm wanted to stay in heaven, but they told him to return to love his family, students, and others. After the NDE, Storm left his professor job, attended seminary, became a pastor, and now does mission work in Belize. He gained a deep faith, daily talks with God, and focuses on heart intentions and love.
“God would never love me or you know I mean we're the ones with all these like”
This NDE account contains no veridical perception claims of real-world events, conversations, or hidden details during the experience, which is entirely composed of subjective spiritual elements like encounters with Jesus, angels, darkness, light, and a life review. The strongest potential evidence is the medical severity implied by the 'roadkill' description of his body, but the total lack of any testable physical perceptions is the primary limiting factor.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
