The Story
Dr. Rajiv Parti was a pain management specialist and Chief of Anesthesiology at Bakersfield Heart Hospital. He had a near-death experience during emergency surgery on Christmas Day 2010 to remove an infected device implanted for body control after prostate cancer complications and sepsis. During the NDE, he floated above his body in the operating room and observed and heard everything, including a joke by the anesthesiologist. His consciousness traveled to a hell-like realm where he was beaten for his selfish life and lack of emotional care for patients. He prayed, and his deceased father guided him through a tunnel. In the tunnel, he received advice, reviewed his current life feeling others' emotions from his actions, and recalled past lives as an opium-addicted farmer and a cruel prince. Angelic beings Michael and Raphael greeted him, led him to a meadow with roses, a stream, and an 'Om' chant. He met a loving light being like a thousand suns who told him to return, abandon materialism, and serve others. After the NDE, Dr. Parti quit anesthesiology to heal souls, focusing on energy, addiction, depression, pain, and cancer. He sold his large home and luxury car for a modest lifestyle, ended verbal abuse toward his sons, broke generational abuse patterns, and became a caring chaplain, author, and workshop leader promoting love and forgiveness.
“makes god love us or gets us to heaven however you want to put it and yet”
The account features a single veridical claim of hearing a specific joke told by the anesthesiologist during surgery under anesthesia, which was reported back to him prompting a surprised dismissal, providing moderate evidence amid otherwise unverifiable spiritual experiences. Limited specificity and lack of explicit confirmation or additional corroborated details constrain higher scoring.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
