IANDS NoVA: Lewis Brown Griggs - The Gift of Three NDEs
What Researchers Found
The Story
Lewis Briggs, a young professional in his late 20s, experienced his first NDE in 1977 after a car accident in Berkeley, California, when a pickup truck hit his Volvo at a stop sign. He left his body and sped through a tunnel into pure light, the source of all consciousness and love. There, he realized souls come from and return to this source, experienced prior lives, and understood humanity's oneness despite unique differences. A voice told him his life's work was to overcome his ethnocentric ignorance and learn to connect across races, genders, and cultures. He returned through the tunnel into his undamaged body. Afterward, Briggs founded the first U.S. diversity training program in 1983, produced award-winning videos and books, and organized national conferences, dedicating over 40 years to teaching cross-cultural bridging and valuing human differences.
“you love my father more than my mother you already love me better i love my”
The transcript describes three NDEs but contains no veridical perception claims of observing real-world events or details inaccessible by normal senses. Experiences are entirely internal spiritual journeys (tunnel to light, dome vision, recovery insights) without any specific, verifiable external perceptions. Lack of any such claims results in minimal evidential strength.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
