Chris Devlin: Choices During NDE's
What Researchers Found
The Story
Chris Devlin was a young man in 1974. He rested on his bed and dozed off. No physical event caused his NDE-like experience. He felt energized and left his body in an out-of-body state. He floated outside, flew over woods, and headed toward a bright light. As he approached the light, he had a life review. He saw his interactions from others' views and felt their emotions. Unconditional love and forgiveness surrounded him. He entered a place of all knowledge. He asked about science, history, Hitler, and other religions. He learned everything was forgiven, and all paths were okay. He wanted to die and merge with the light by inhaling and exhaling love. He withheld some ego attachment and veered to a gray zone of miserable souls. He chose to return to address his attachments. After the experience, Chris hitchhiked to Alaska. He worked in tribal health as a nurse practitioner. He taught college courses on death, grief, and healing. He studied A Course in Miracles and learned to let sacred stories evolve without fear.

The account features a single but detailed veridical OBE perception of a roommate's specific actions seen through walls, immediately verified by the roommate who was shocked and confirmed exact details. Score limited by low medical severity (just dozing off, no crisis) and lack of additional independent verifications or higher impossibility like remote locations.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
