Yolaine Stout - My Suicidal NDE: What it Taught Me About Life

The Story
Yolan Stout was a depressed atheist teacher in an abusive marriage, infertile, and anemic. She attempted suicide in 1982 by using autogenic training to will her heart to stop. During the NDE, she entered a dark void, then her room filled with bright light, allowing clear vision without glasses. She heard surrounding voices as dreams and tried to explore. A warm, loving light enveloped her, feeling like home. She saw Jesus in white robes who telepathically said, 'Don't waste your life thinking you're not loved,' making her feel all lives are precious. She returned to her body painfully. After the NDE, Yolan took responsibility for her thoughts, ended her depression, divorced, moved home, married her soulmate, and raised his sons. She joined IANDS, founded ASSIST to train professionals helping experiencers integrate changes, and now writes to empower people with purpose and overcome depression.
“I ever knew any before I even knew that left an impression I can tell you fast”
The NDE lacks any veridical perception claims, featuring only subjective internal experiences like seeing light, a void, clear vision without glasses, and a personal message from Jesus, with no descriptions of impossible-to-know external events, conversations, or details. No verification attempts or confirmed accuracies are mentioned, limiting evidential value despite altered consciousness.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
