Esther Latrell's son, Dean, died from complications of pneumonia in 1994 at age 27. About a week later, while grieving at her daughter's house, Esther sat on the guest bed thinking about Dean's whereabouts. She felt a strong wind on her face and a sensation of flying. She moved quickly over the neighborhood, trees, and mountains, with Dean behind her. They entered a vast space with stars, then stood on a rocky moonscape bathed in soft blue light. A moon-like object rose on the horizon, which Dean said was Earth. He explained it was a place he went to think and work on his spirituality. Esther returned to the bed, crying, and felt a warm kiss on her cheek. After this, she wrote the book 'Dear Dean, Love Mom' to share stories of afterlife communications.
