Woman Encounters God in the Afterlife on the Doorstep of Heaven

The Story
Missy Applenuts from Indianapolis, Indiana, had a near-death experience during a dental procedure. She was a new mother with a six-month-old son. The dentist gave her nitrous oxide, but the oxygen and nitrous lines were plumbed backwards. This caused severe oxygen deprivation. She passed out, stopped breathing, and turned blue. During the experience, everything went black. She entered a dark space like outer space with pinpoints of light. She felt complete peace, deep satisfaction, happiness, and love. She thought, 'Is this heaven?' A white light appeared up and to her right and grew larger. She communicated with the light and wanted to stay. Thoughts came from over her shoulders: she could not leave her son Mason with her ex-husband, and she could not leave her friend Shelly after their fight. Then she returned to her body. The medical team screamed for her to breathe. After the NDE, Missy had a hard recovery with slowed brain waves and memory issues. She hid the experience for 20 years. Later, reading NDE books helped her trust in a loving God, unlike her difficult father. It gave her hope, purpose, and strength to face trauma. She wrote a memoir called Falling Far and shares her story to encourage others.
“heaven and I started to see a light it was up and to my right and a pinpoint of”
This NDE features severe physiological compromise from oxygen deprivation but lacks any veridical perceptions, consisting solely of subjective internal experiences like peace, a light, and personal thoughts. No claims of observing physical events, conversations, or hidden details during unconsciousness, rendering evidential strength minimal. The primary limiting factor is the complete absence of testable perceptual elements.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
