The Story
Valerie Sterret was a 15-year-old girl in 1997 when a car accident caused her near-death experience. Two girls ran a stop sign and T-boned the car she was riding in to church. During the NDE, Valerie felt transported to another dimension. She met a woman who looked like her and communicated through their minds. The woman said the accident was a trial to help Valerie fulfill her purpose. Valerie felt deep peace and love, and she recognized the place as her true home. She wanted to stay, but the woman told her it was not her time yet. Earth seemed like a small, unimportant point. After the NDE, Valerie woke in the hospital with a concussion and glass in her mouth. The feeling of love lingered but faded as pain returned. She recognized the woman as her great-grandmother from a photo album. Valerie faced depression, memory loss, and bullying. She shifted from diving to music, joined the Army, and used her talents to help soldiers, domestic violence victims, and those with addictions. Her faith strengthened, and she became more sensitive to spiritual signs, finding purpose in evolving ways to uplift others through music and example.
This NDE includes a vision of a deceased great-grandmother with a physical resemblance verified later via family photo album and mother's confirmation of prior dream appearances, providing some corroboration. However, the absence of out-of-body perceptions, impossible sensory access to physical events, highly specific or unpredictable details, and documented pre-verification reporting significantly limits evidential strength for veridical claims.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
