The Story
Louisa Peek, a 22-year-old woman, experienced a near-death event in 1983 at a New York City club. She snorted what she thought was cocaine but was actually laced with lidocaine, causing poisoning, a seizure, and cardiac arrest. A bartender performed CPR to revive her. During the NDE, Louisa left her body and shot up into the air, seeing Manhattan below. She flew over a blue ocean, dove into the water, surfaced, and reached a beach. She climbed a slimy sea stack to a house, lost her physical form, and entered as a point of consciousness. She felt her ancestors welcoming her. Pulled by her heart, she flew over the ocean toward a setting sun. A voice assured her this was more real than earthly life. She entered the sun's light, felt overwhelming love from a being holding her like an infant, but was told she could not stay as her life was not done. She fell back into blackness, saw playful stick figures, and returned to her body. After the NDE, Louisa overcame her addiction, got sober through AA and NA, and shifted from self-destruction to spiritual growth. She wrote books on her recovery and experience, interviewed other NDE survivors, and started a blog on spiritual evolution.
“senses back on Earth or back in my body so the sun got bigger and bigger and”
While the experiencer suffered a severe medical crisis including cardiac arrest requiring CPR, there are no claims of veridical perceptions from an impossible vantage point during the OBE. The NDE consists entirely of subjective spiritual imagery (ancestors, light, being) without specific, verifiable details or confirmation attempts.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
