The Story
Rose Murphy experienced her near-death experience during the birth of her second son, Kevin, on December 19, 1951, at an old country hospital. She had a dry birth with no amniotic fluid, which caused exhaustion and her to stop breathing. She entered a black void and moved through a tunnel toward a circle of light. She reached the light and felt immense peace and unconditional love from God. A deep, majestic voice said, 'Now that you know what it is like, go back and tell the others.' She returned to her body and saw the doctor scolding her for delaying hospital visit and the nurse announcing her baby boy. Rose kept the experience secret for 25 years due to fear of disbelief. In 1976, reading Raymond Moody's 'Life After Life' confirmed it was real. This brought relief and caused major changes in her views on God, life, and death, including surprising physical, mental, and emotional effects. She later shared her story publicly.
“way back in 1951 yet felt embarrassed to i gave birth to my second son kevin on”
The transcript features multiple NDE accounts with out-of-body perceptions during medical crises, including specific details of resuscitation efforts and staff dialogues observed from above the body. However, these perceptions consist of highly predictable code blue events with no reported verification or corroboration from medical staff, and accounts were shared decades later. Lack of unique, confirmed details severely limits evidential strength.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
