Doctor Dies, Sees Future, Beings, & Says I am not Freaking You Out

The Story
Rod Schelberg was a retired medical doctor who had a near-death experience in second grade. He suffered a massive kidney infection and had an allergic reaction to penicillin, which caused him to stop breathing. During the experience, he felt fear and saw darkness around him. He floated out of his body and entered a long black tunnel. Peace and confidence filled him as he moved forward. He saw a beautiful white light ahead and felt drawn to it, thinking he was going home. Halfway through, doctors resuscitated him, and he returned to his body. He received three gifts: seeing colors on people's hearts, astral travel, and divine meditation. After the NDE, he initially dismissed it as a dream and suppressed the gifts to fit in. They returned during medical school and shaped his career. He lost his fear of death, viewed it as a transition, and used his abilities to help patients die peacefully in hospice and the ER. He wrote a book and teaches meditation to recreate the peaceful state.
“peace and joy and love and there's this white light that shines away all of my”
This NDE lacks any veridical perception claims, featuring only a classic subjective tunnel-and-light experience with internal emotional transformations. Despite a severe medical crisis involving respiratory arrest, no observations of external events, personnel, or verifiable details from an impossible vantage point are reported.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
