The Story
David Wallace, a Hawaiian man called Kahu Dave, had four near-death experiences. The first occurred at age five when he fell from a moving car and cracked his head on the pavement. The second happened at age 19 due to double pneumonia after a cold training trip. The third took place in his forties from avian flu and meningitis that caused septic blood and organ failure. The fourth arose during open-heart surgery when his heart was stopped. During the first NDE, he left his body, saw vibrant colors, floated above the scene, felt scared by shadows, and an ancestor named Koloa took him to a safe geometric room to protect him from deceivers calling his name. He fought but gave up and returned to the hospital. In the second, deceased friend Bruce pulled him from his body, led him through a breathing tunnel like a blood vessel to a light-filled landscape. He met ancestors and beloved pets but heard his daughter calling and chose to return, falling back into his body as his fever broke. The third, possibly a vision, had him buried alive, escaping a cemetery chased by Death and dogs. He transformed into a werewolf, defeated the dogs, and chose life for his new wife, realizing its value. In the fourth, he floated above his open body during surgery, saw doctors shocking it, and Koloa took him back to the safe room with other ancestors. They discussed his Hawaiian name's deeper meaning as one who talks with gods. After these experiences, David could see and communicate with spirits. He quit policing for teaching, made better life choices centered on family, became a spiritual caretaker, and learned to never give up on life despite hardships.
