The Story
Scott Allison, an adopted Korean American from Wyoming, had his near-death experience at age 18 due to a methamphetamine overdose. He snorted a large amount of the drug, seized, passed out, and struggled to breathe with a slowing heart rate. During the NDE, he left his body and floated to the ceiling, where he could breathe freely and felt renewed. He saw himself elevated in the sky amid rolling clouds, approaching two massive closed golden gates, which he believed was heaven's entrance. He experienced unconditional love for the first time. Realizing he was dead, he slammed back into his body. After the NDE, Scott initially dismissed it as a hallucination and continued his addiction, leading to more arrests and prison time. Years later, reflecting on the experience through reading NDE books and faith, he achieved sobriety after 14 months clean, rebuilt relationships with his daughter and parents, became involved in recovery programs, and found purpose in helping others.
