The Story
Wayne Morrison, a 17-year-old from Rhode Island, had a near-death experience in 1972 at a party after taking medication and drinking alcohol. He entered a black void and moved rapidly through a tunnel toward a light with a soothing rumbling sound. He emerged into beautiful valleys with giant flowers that made music and supported him spiritually. He felt free of his body but more present. Three tall beings of light told him telepathically he would meet a higher being. A brilliant light enveloped him with warmth and love, feeling like home. He asked about other worlds and saw planets with life. He learned the meaning of life is love for all creation. He viewed a tablet showing world history, including wars and disasters, and felt connected to everything. Beings urged him to return; he resisted but agreed as hundreds sang to him. Back in the bathroom, he tried to cut his wrists to return but stopped after hearing 'No.' After the NDE, Wayne lost his fear of death, married his girlfriend, joined the Air Force, and became a police captain. He now focuses on helping others, shedding ego, and promoting unconditional love and unity.
“great light and source of joy and love almost it was a body or I perceived it”
This NDE lacks any veridical perception claims about real-world events or details impossible to know normally; it consists entirely of subjective spiritual visions like tunnels, beings, and cosmic history without specific, verifiable elements. The experiencer reports prompt disclosure to his wife, but no attempts or successes in corroborating observable facts, limiting evidential strength.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
