The Story
Carrie Kohan, a Canadian woman of Ojibwe Cree and French Canadian descent, had two near-death experiences. The first occurred at age 24 when she choked on her own vomit after heavy drinking due to guilt over an unwanted abortion. She left her body and saw black gremlins hissing at her. She then faced the devil, who appeared as a giant snake morphing into a handsome man with reptilian eyes. She called on God and Jesus, who appeared and made the devil flee. God explained the devil collects weakened souls. Black smoke enveloped her, leading to a black void where waves of energy cleansed her and answered her questions. The second NDE happened at age 28 from severe chest pain during anxiety about her engagement. She left her body again. A giant brown bird carried her through clouds to a white void resembling heaven. She sat on a loving cloud seat, met God, felt overwhelming love, and was told by a council she had too much to do and must return. After the first NDE, she quit drinking, moved to a sober house, and rebuilt her life. Following the second, she married, had a child, and after a pedophile attempted to kidnap her daughter, she volunteered for 17 years to protect children. She helped amend 14 laws, met Canadian leaders, and later wrote a bestselling book on spirituality.
“go back to my body boom you're back in and that cord is attached so because I”
The NDE accounts describe out-of-body perceptions of the experiencer's own body position during unconsciousness from suffocation and cardiac-like arrest, but lack any verification, specific third-party details, or corroborated real-world events. Spiritual visions dominate without earthly veridical elements, limiting evidential strength.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
