The Story
Matthew Devel was a 25-year-old man struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. He caused his near-death experience by attempting suicide with three bottles of sleeping pills and gin in his car at a bird sanctuary in Alaska. During the NDE, a flash of light transported him into the sanctuary, waist-deep in water with no footprints, in a black-and-white world without sound. Another flash put him on an empty highway where a grotesque man in a yellow cab offered a ride. He entered, closed his eyes, and fell into a dark pit, splitting into seven versions of himself. He landed in a hot, dense underground cave surrounded by steam walls. Over three days, he relived pains he caused others in past, present, and future as demons appeared as hurt people. Praying on his knees, Jesus lifted him out, saying he had work to do without drugs or alcohol, and showed a vision of eternal hell. After the NDE, Matthew stopped all drugs and alcohol since 1987. He sees God in creation, believes everyone has a life purpose, wrote a book on suicide prevention, and developed Neuro-Recall psychology to treat mental health issues.
