The Story
Rex Finfgelt, a climber, experienced an NDE in 2011 after falling 26 feet from a cottonwood tree and landing headfirst on concrete. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, bleeding on the brain, 20 broken bones, a punctured lung, and massive internal bleeding, leading to a five-day coma and a month in the hospital. During the NDE, while comatose, Rex became aware of his pure being as life itself, pure love, mind, and consciousness. He existed as the source of all creation, encompassing every possibility and reality in an eternal moment without time. He felt himself as everything, including the divine spark, in an instantaneous experience without a tunnel or travel to light. After the NDE, Rex gained heightened sensitivities and intuition. He now understands consciousness, divinity, and multi-universal reality in new ways. He became a writer, presenter, musician, and band member, composing original music despite no prior experience. He developed theories on gravity's role in existence and lives a transformed life.
“merging into the light um of god the light of love and light of god you're uh you were identifying yourself more as that spark of god then you were”
This NDE features a profound internal mystical experience with no veridical perceptions of the physical environment, medical procedures, or inaccessible information. Despite severe medical compromise including coma and vital signs crashing, the absence of any specific, verifiable perceptual claims limits evidential strength across all relevant criteria.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
