The Story
Jim, an IT project manager, had a near-death experience on October 6, 2016, after crashing an experimental aircraft into woods north of Waterbury, Connecticut. He suffered broken ribs, ruptured lungs, a hole in his lower back, and a torn chin. Rescuers airlifted him to Hartford Hospital, where doctors induced a coma for a week and performed multiple surgeries with low success rates. During the coma, Jim teleported to a dark, post-apocalyptic landscape. He found a large egg-shaped lattice sculpture filled with gears representing future thoughts, words, actions, and deeds. He removed harmful choices by touching them and feeling spiritual pain, causing the structure to recalibrate repeatedly. A voice told him his presence answered a prayer, urged gentleness and attention to relationships, and noted everything's interconnection. It then returned him, saying the man who fell from the sky now flew into it differently. After the NDE, Jim quit alcohol permanently by releasing attachment. He embraced a depersonalized observer state, wrote two books on his experience and letting go, and spoke publicly at conferences. He now lives with purpose, focusing on authenticity, non-linear thinking, service to others, and celebrating individual spirits through stronger relationships.
“longer you can't go back and say go back where to your family what family i was”
No veridical perception claims are present; the NDE consists entirely of internal, otherworldly visions (gothic landscape, future gears in egg sculpture) without any reports of perceiving physical events, people, or conversations during unconsciousness. Medical severity provides some evidential baseline, but lack of any testable perceptions limits strength.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
