My NDEs, aftereffects and what I’m doing about them now (Cherylee Black)
What Researchers Found
The Story
The speaker had three NDEs. The first occurred as a toddler after falling down basement stairs and cracking her head. She felt a warm hug from a lady in dark, sparkly light, later identified as her deceased grandmother, and felt safe. She wanted her dad and returned to him. The second happened at age 10 when her appendix burst during surgery. She popped in and out of her body, saw future relationships, her parents arguing, and two family outcomes. She chose to return to keep her family together. The third took place at age 29 in a head-on car collision on black ice. She stood on a wilderness balcony, saw her dog playing below, met her deceased grandmother who guided her, experienced mixed seasons and pure information, and felt deep love. After these NDEs, she developed psi abilities like precognition, OBEs, and psychokinesis. She changed careers from artist and musician to scientist, studied parapsychology, and participated in research to understand her experiences.
“meeting I would have never never told my husband and I love him dearly but it's”
The primary veridical claim involves an OBE during appendectomy surgery perceiving parents arguing in a separate waiting room, supported by moderate medical severity, physical separation, some specificity and unpredictability, and attempted verification, but undermined by lack of confirmation and no prior reporting. Secondary claim of recognizing an unknown deceased grandmother from toddler NDE adds minor evidential weight but lacks robust verification and timing details.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
