The Story
Eben Alexander, a scientist living near Boulder, Colorado, experienced a near-death event in 2014 during a bike ride. He was hit broadside by a large SUV driven by a woman texting in a traffic circle, leading to multiple broken bones and emergency surgery. During the accident, he left his body and watched from 75 feet away while also feeling survival instincts in his body. In surgery, as anesthesia took effect, he entered a beautiful meadow filled with love and peace. A glowing female figure welcomed him as his teacher and showed a life review through videos on a pond, where he relived interactions from his and others' perspectives, learning about divine love, gratitude, and human connection. She reminded him of his life's purpose and sent him back. After the NDE, he recovered quickly without pain meds and transformed his life to focus on love, creativity, and helping others live fearlessly and connected.
“energetically with love, and I felt peace. I felt completely at peace and welcomed and accepted. And that's when things started”
While the experiencer endured extreme physical trauma including a brief clinical death (coding) and described an OBE from an impossible vantage point 75 feet away during the accident, there are no specific, unpredictable, or verified perceptual details from this OBE or any other phase. The absence of verification attempts, documented details, or corroborated elements severely limits evidential strength.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
