The Story
Christiane Ahmet was an 8-year-old girl who had a near-death experience due to severe pneumonia and high fever that antibiotics could not treat. She lay in her parents' bedroom when she stepped out of her body from the front and expanded to feel very big. She saw her small body below and could look in all directions as if she had eyes everywhere. She no longer felt like a child but like an adult. A bright light came toward her from the open balcony door. The light communicated with love and said not to be afraid because it was always there. She felt infinite love and calm. She wanted to stay, but the light, which she perceived as a shadowy figure named Karl, told her she had much to do in life, especially good for children. Then she was pulled back into her body. Her mother and grandmother shook her awake and treated her with cold and hot tubs. After the NDE, Christiane became a pediatric intensive care nurse. The experience shaped her career and life, giving her a strong sense of purpose to help and comfort others, especially children and the dying. She had ongoing spiritual contacts and believed in life after death.
