The Story
Julie Levine was a 31-year-old Director of Health and Human Services for the Bronx Borough President in 1990. She had a near-death experience after a car accident while driving to Albany with her friend Robin. A truck backed into their lane, Robin swerved, and the car spun into a barrier. Robin died instantly, and Julie entered a coma with a concussion, jaw fractures, cracked hip, and vision problems. During the experience, Julie found herself in a rocky cave-tunnel with Robin and a wise, shadowy presence. The presence shared that they would go to a beautiful place of happiness, but only one could return due to the pain of life. They were catapulted into pure light and love, where energies connected, and Julie felt Robin's peace. Julie chose to return despite guilt. After the NDE, Julie became less ego-driven and more humble. She focused on human connections and love in her social services work. She lost fear of death, got involved in NDE research, and spoke at bereavement groups to help others with grief.
“when I went back when I finally go back you know the girl president would let me”
The transcript details a shared NDE during clinical death and coma with specific sensory descriptions of a metaphysical realm shared with the instantly deceased friend, reported promptly to a nurse and family. However, evidential strength is limited by the absence of verifiable physical details, independent corroboration from Robin's perspective, or confirmed unpredictable elements beyond common NDE motifs.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
