The Story
Ray Ferstein, a retired communications engineer and current law enforcement officer from upstate New York, had two near-death experiences. The first occurred when he was five or six years old after a black wasp sting caused anaphylactic shock. He died en route to the hospital. During this NDE, voices reassured him as he rode a whirlwind tornado into a vast dark area with spotlights showing people. He saw children playing with puppies; a girl invited him to join, but a voice stopped him. Reaching for a puppy shook him back to life in the hospital. The second NDE happened at age 17 from a burst appendix causing septic shock. He passed out on a gurney to the operating room. He moved from darkness to light, saw welcoming people waving, and met his deceased grandmother Rose. She instructed him to return and tell his mother she and Tommy were fine. After these events, Ray lost fear of death. He views the soul as eternal, carrying memories and knowledge as true wealth. He became spiritual, seeing life as a learning tool for self-judgment in the afterlife.
“Um so I I never really knew much about side. Uh and uh then she showed me this”
The account features a clinically dead state with detailed, verified perceptions of an unknown deceased grandmother's appearance, name, and a specific hidden pendant never seen by the experiencer, confirmed by the mother via photo and the actual item shortly after. Mumbling of names in the hospital adds to prompt reporting. Lacks physical OBE elements but strong on impossible knowledge from afterlife entity.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
