Mary Grace: Talking to God and Grandma
What Researchers Found
The Story
Mary Grace was a 41-year-old woman from near Rochester, New York. She suffered from epilepsy, lupus, depression, and addiction after her mother's death. The NDE happened on November 2, 2000, when she had a cardiac arrest while driving on an expressway after hearing a song she saw as a sign from God. During the NDE, she floated toward a bright light and merged with a force of intense love. She felt peace, no pain, and recognized her Creator. She felt at home and important. She had a life review. God told her he gave her proof she was not crazy, a sign he had not abandoned her, and brought her home, but she must return because her work was not done. She felt pulled back to her car after 45 minutes. After the NDE, her seizures stopped. She quit drugs and alcohol. Her health improved; epilepsy and lupus vanished, and she stopped all 24 medications. She felt euphoric and connected to everything. Her priest rejected her for spirit communication, so she left the church. She joined a welcoming independent Catholic church and wrote a book to teach about spirit communication as a God-given gift.
“was home and heaven with God and I just nature with God but it it was hard to to”
This NDE lacks any veridical perception claims, consisting solely of internal subjective experiences like light, love, life review, and divine messages with no external observations. The only potential external note is a 45-minute time lapse verified by a car clock, but this is accessible normally and not impossible. Self-reported cardiac arrest adds some medical severity, but without clinical verification or corroborated perceptions, evidential strength remains minimal.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
