Paula Lenz: Driving Into Infinity
What Researchers Found
The Story
Paula Lentz experienced a near-death experience after her brother Don died in a truck-train accident in 1983. Three days after his funeral, she drove his truck to her grandparents' house. While driving, she saw 360 degrees around her and her brother as a pattern of light with his hand on her shoulder. He spoke telepathically, saying he was happy and did not want her to be sad. She left her body and became pure consciousness. She felt infinity, overwhelming love, oneness with everything, all knowledge, and deep peace. She wanted to stay, but her brother said it was not her time and pushed her back into her body. She returned with a thud and continued driving safely. After the experience, Paula felt warm and happy, knowing her brother lived on. Over the years, she received after-death communications from him, like moving objects, pulled-out chairs, and turned photos, which predicted family deaths. These events deepened her spiritual growth, and she wrote a book about living with her brother's spirit.
“i felt really warm my face felt really lived on and was around us could see us”
This account lacks any veridical perception claims of physical events or details that could not be accessed through normal senses during the NDE. The experience consists primarily of internal spiritual sensations (infinity, love, oneness) and contact with the deceased brother, with no specific verifiable external observations. Post-NDE anomalous events suggest ongoing spirit communication but do not qualify as perceptions from the NDE itself.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
