The Story
Betty Eadie had a near-death experience during a medical crisis. Her spirit left her body. She looked down and saw her body on the hospital bed. She viewed herself in three dimensions and felt she was attractive. Her spirit became a being of light that expanded in Christ's love. She met Jesus, who appeared as a being of light. She asked him why there is pain in the world. He explained that pain is part of growth and helps people learn joy. She did not want to return to Earth because of his love. But Jesus told her her mission was not complete, so she had to go back. Re-entering her body felt heavy, cold, and restricting. After the NDE, Betty lost her fear of death and became serene and joyful. She improved her self-esteem, dropped her judgmental attitude, and changed her religious beliefs. She wrote the bestselling book 'Embraced by the Light' and now helps others, including providing scholarships for Native Americans.
“and um I love this man I absolutely love let him but uh he has a lot of pain he”
The transcript describes a standard spiritual NDE with an OBE where the experiencer vaguely observed their own body but provided no specific, verifiable real-world details from the medical setting. A precognitive vision of a future adopted daughter's specific behavior is mentioned as fulfilled, but lacks documentation of prompt reporting or independent verification, limiting overall evidential strength.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
