The Story
Dr. Alan Coffield experienced a near-death event as a two-day-old infant in the hospital, where he was critically ill and put up for adoption. During the NDE, he left his body and viewed the hospital room from the ceiling. An angel carried him to Jesus, who held him on his left shoulder. Coffield saw Jesus's face, beard, and clothing, and felt his strong hands, though he remembered no conversation. Later, two angels prepared to return him to his body; the female angel called him John, his name he would receive four and a half months later. After the NDE, these vivid memories persisted throughout his life. Coffield founded the Royal Ministry and Christian Center for Near-Death Resources to offer free spiritual counseling and resources. He helps NDE survivors, especially Christians, integrate their experiences, address trauma, and find support without judgment.
“they may have felt you know the love of take what they have learned or take what”
The NDE includes veridical elements like perceiving hospital room details from an impossible ceiling vantage point (later verified with biological mother) and angels addressing the experiencer by his future adoptive name 'John,' unknown at the time as a newborn named David. These provide strong specificity, unpredictability, and verification, but evidential strength is tempered by uncertain medical severity details, lack of pre-verification reporting, and relatively few claims overall.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
Are you here because someone you love has died?
These accounts were gathered because death may not be the end. Thousands of people have experienced something beyond — and come back to tell us about it.
