NDE: The Most Powerful Experience Of My Life
What Researchers Found
The Story
Kimberly F., a 12-year-old girl, experienced a near-death event on May 8, 1982, after being shot in the chest with a 410 gauge shotgun at close range by a 17-year-old. She walked to a car, rode in an ambulance, and was flown by Life Flight to a hospital in Houston without losing consciousness. In the operating room, she counted backward under anesthesia and felt like she backed into a wall. She opened her eyes to a bright white misty light and saw her body on the table from high above. She heard singing voices around her. She turned to a tunnel like a tornado, floated through it quickly, and emerged into misty light with dozens of shadowy figures in a horseshoe formation. A authoritative voice told her no, she could not come home yet, and it was not her time. She tried to advance but was stopped. She looked back through the tunnel and saw doctors defibrillate her body three times. She then awoke in the intensive care unit. The doctor said she had died but revived after the third shock. She recovered in 10 days and was called a miracle child. After the NDE, her psychic abilities strengthened. She could see, smell, and feel spirits more intensely, had prophetic dreams, strong gut feelings, and discerned spirits. Initially dismissed as crazy, she now has support to use her gifts.
“was very afraid and confused I ran back to the street I looked down the street”
The account features a severe medical crisis with clinical death and detailed OBE observations of a three-shock defibrillation sequence, including a prayer-like hesitation verified by the doctor's later admission of feeling compelled not to quit. Evidential strength is moderated by the same-room vantage point, lack of exact quotes or hidden details, and absence of documented pre-verification reporting. Overall, it provides moderate to high veridical support through partial but specific corroboration.
Score reflects verifiable perceptions reported. A low score indicates the experience was primarily spiritual or subjective, not that it didn't occur.
Score reflects transformation as described. Domains scored 0 indicate the topic was not discussed, not that no change occurred.
