Galadriel Krump's NDE: The Girl Who Chose to Come Back

A ten-year-old's journey through hypothermia to meet three giant beings who taught her about karma, choice, and the river of time

She was ten years old, alone in a drafty Wisconsin farmhouse on one of the coldest nights of the year, and the only thing on her mind was making sure the animals didn't freeze. No one else wanted to go outside. The winter weather advisory was serious. But Galadriel Krump had seen animals with frostbite before, and she couldn't let it happen again. So she pulled on two pairs of socks, grabbed her yellow jacket, and walked out into the storm. By the time she finished rounding up all thirty or forty cows and getting them into the barn, she was giggling at how clumsy she felt, tripping over her own feet. She didn't know she was dying. She thought she was just tired.

Galadriel Krump's NDE: The Girl Who Chose to Come Back

The Farm Girl Who Couldn't Stop Helping

Galadriel Krump grew up on an 82-acre hobby farm in Wisconsin, the kind of place where a kid could be left to their own devices most of the time. Her mom worked constantly. Her dad was sick. Her older sister had a job and didn't help much with the animals anymore. So when Galadriel got pulled out of school at the end of fourth grade to do online learning, she figured she'd just sleep in and take care of things herself. She was ten years old.

It was December, close to Christmas, and Wisconsin gets cold in a way that people from warmer places don't quite understand. "It's like close to the Canada level of cold," Galadriel says. On this particular night, there was a full moon, a winter storm, and a winter weather advisory. Her dad told everyone they needed to get the animals into the barn. Nobody wanted to go.

"I'm like well the animals I'm sure are freezing their butts off like we should go take care of them," she remembers. Her sisters argued that the animals had been outside in cold weather before, that they had their winter coats and animal fat. But Galadriel had seen frostbite on the farm animals before. She knew how painful it was. "I was like you know what I'll go outside I'll start rounding them up and bringing them inside," she says.

The cows had split up across the property because the leader cow had gone crazy over a pet pig and the herd fractured into little friendship groups. Galadriel had to walk all over the 82 acres, into the valley, through the trees, tracking down every group. She was in a rush. She wanted to get them warm and happy. "Not being aware of the dangers of the cold but only knowing that well it doesn't matter if I get cold because I'll just get warm," she explains. That's the thing about being ten. You don't know what you don't know.

The Warning Signs She Didn't Recognize

As she followed the cows back through the snow, something started to go wrong. "A couple of them are tripping on the on the snow and I'm following them and I start tripping on my own feet," Galadriel says. She started feeling hot. Really tired. And then she started giggling. "I start giggling because I'm like laughing at like how I'm just like tripping on my own feet just everything seemed really really funny," she recalls.

She didn't know these were the classic signs of severe hypothermia. The paradoxical undressing. The confusion. The euphoria right before you die. She just thought she was sleepy. She'd always been able to nap whenever she wanted, so being tired didn't seem like a red flag.

By the time she got all the animals into the barn and started throwing hay bales down for them, she'd taken off her jacket and tied it around her waist. "At this point I had taken off my jacket and I was just wearing I think probably just like a long sleeve shirt," she says. She couldn't control her hands. Her arms kept giving out. She couldn't walk right. She felt dizzy and nauseous.

Her sister Drew came out and got mad at her for not wearing her jacket. Galadriel said no, she didn't want to put it on. "She's like why are you why are you slurring your words and she's like why are you talking like that like she just thinks I'm being sassy," Galadriel remembers. Her sister called for their dad. He told Galadriel to go inside and warm up. She walked into the house, told her mom she didn't feel good, and said she was going to take a nap.

"I go upstairs and it was cold and I just remember you know I'm still hot I'm still tired I'm still sick and I lay down in bed," she says. She fell asleep. And then she woke up. Or thought she did.

Rising Out of the Body

"I thought I woke up it felt just kind of like sitting up like this but like I guess I came out of my head I just it just felt like I I rose up out of my body it just felt like I sat up," Galadriel describes. Everything looked super vivid. The colors were brighter than normal. She was in her bedroom and felt great. "I'm like oh I guess I wasn't that tired I feel great I'm gonna go see what mom's making," she thought.

As soon as she had that thought, she shot downstairs. Instantly. "At that I didn't even consider like that was really fast you know I didn't think about any of it it just was natural and it felt right," she says. She describes it as feeling like being awake, except without a body. She was in the kitchen watching her mom cook, and she could sense her mom's intentions. "I could just sense that it's like oh cook food go watch TV cook food go watch TV it's like okay that's boring," Galadriel recalls.

Her mom had an orangish light around her. Galadriel didn't pay much attention to it. She thought about going back to her room, and instantly she was there. She saw her body lying on the bed, the blanket off because she'd been hot when she fell asleep. "I was like oh that person looks peaceful and like I didn't really assume it was me or anything like that I just was like that person looks peaceful and asleep," she says. She didn't see any light around her own body.

The Full-Spectrum Light

Then she looked out the window and saw the most beautiful light she'd ever seen. The full moon was shining down, and the light was bouncing off the snow. "The light was bouncing off of the snow and how I would just describe the light is very similar to this all spectrum light that I have growing with the plants," she explains. She's talking about a grow light she keeps on in her house now, a purple full-spectrum light that reminds her of what she saw that night. "This kind of color light was hitting the snow and I was like oh that looks really pretty I want to see it up close," she says.

She zoomed right through the wall. Suddenly she was right in front of the snow, staring at it up close. Then she looked at the moon. "It's like extra bright and it's just like a white bluish kind of this color all coming out," she describes. She thought it was gorgeous. She wondered what it would be like to live on the moon.

That's when everything changed. "Then kind of like getting Bush just kind of went through this Vortex thing after I had that thought," she says. The vortex was gray and black, not colorful. It took longer to travel through than the instant movements she'd been experiencing. And then she was on the moon. Or what she thought was the moon.

Three Giant Beings

She was walking around in a giant crater, amazed at how colorful and bright everything was. And then she realized she wasn't alone. "My attention turned toward these like three giant beings," Galadriel says. She has no idea who or what they were, but years later she heard another NDEr describe seeing the same three beings, which made her feel less alone in the experience.

"The form that I suppose I'll just say the form they took you know was these humongous I don't know I want to say like Skyscraper size beings," she describes. They were blue or light blue, almost whitish, and their energy looked like robes made of light, all flowy. "They don't have faces they don't really have clothes you know but it's in it but they kind of look like they might have the appearance of wings behind them but like they don't use them," she says.

The energy they gave off wasn't scary at all. It was peaceful, demanding in a gentle way. She compares it to how she looks at her own child now, when they're innocent and don't know much about anything. "It's just this so much like it makes me want to cry thinking about it is so much love and peace and patience," Galadriel says. "It was very nice," she adds simply.

One of them came over to her, towering above. The other two stayed in the background. This one had what she describes as a male energy, very logical and calm and protective. Like someone saying, I'm going to teach you and help you.

What Did You Think of Your Life?

"It was like what'd you think of your life," the being asked her. Galadriel's first response was honest and ten years old. "I was like oh it was awful it sucks like I got beat tonight this is that the only thing," she remembers saying. But then she reconsidered. "Well I mean it wasn't the worst thing but like it's not the best and I'm like I I do like living out in the country," she told them. She listed the things a ten-year-old cares about, the things she liked and didn't like.

Then the being asked her what she'd learned. "Well what'd you learn from that because we're all here to learn something," it said. Galadriel thought about it. "Well I guess I did learn you know that at that point I learned selflessness how to be selfless," she told them. She'd been selfless with the animals, going out in the cold when no one else would. "I learned to be kind to people that I wasn't really a fan of like my family," she added.

Then they looked at memories together. Not a full life review exactly, but traumatic memories. "Here are some traumatic memories of yours and we're gonna look at them," Galadriel describes. She won't share the specifics because they were personal lessons for her soul. But she emphasizes what happens when you review memories with these beings. "When you go through your memories you definitely 100 feel what you made somebody else feel and you understand that there is karma attached to every choice that you make," she says.

The Choice and the River of Time

After going through the memories, the beings asked her a question. "Do you want to go back do you want to see what else there is what do you want to do," they said. Galadriel's first instinct was that she didn't want to go back. They offered to show her other lives. But she hesitated. "I'm like but no no no I don't think I should because I think I kind of do want to go back," she says.

She had an emotional connection to her mom. She references a Bible quote, even though she's not religious: what you bind on Earth you bind in heaven, what you loose on Earth you loose in heaven. "I was energetically bound to my mom basically through emotions which are energy," she explains. She didn't want to give that up yet.

She'd also learned something strange: in another life, her mom had been her husband and she'd been her mom's wife. "It's interesting how we keep interacting with these souls in each life," she says. But when they offered to show her other lives, she said no. "I still had a feeling that like yeah I really don't want to have to deal with all of the trauma and I know there's going to be more trauma if I go back home," she admits. But she wanted to go back anyway. "It really wasn't as bad as some of these other lives that could be worse you know I didn't want to be envious of any other life,".

The beings made it clear that emotional ties hold you back. The seven deadly sins, envy, greed, gluttony, pride, sloth, wrath, pride. "Those hold you back for sure," Galadriel says. They warned her: "You know since you're traumatized you know you're going to grow up and and have to deal with all of these things and it's going to be tough are you sure," they asked. She was sure. "I want to be able to work through it," she told them.

Then they said something that changed everything. "Well I mean we can make changes we can edit it you know," they told her. A river appeared. "I got the sense that like oh the river represents our human perception of time," Galadriel explains. She couldn't see the beginning or the end of it. There was a big rock at one end representing when she would die as an old woman. Another rock represented her choosing to go back now.

"You can make decisions and your decisions will be like these little stones," the beings told her. They were trying to explain karma to a child. She got to throw little stones into the river, decisions she wanted to make, things she wanted to happen. But there were consequences. "I remember that there were like these two little Stones I was holding and I'm like these are two decisions and two things I really really want to happen," she says.

She tossed one stone in. Then one of the giant beings picked up a boulder and tossed it into the river with a huge splash. "Because you made that decision or you made that choice now this is happening," they told her. She was shocked. "I'm like what I'm like I don't wanna like all that to happen," she says. But they were clear: "Well that's what happens there is an effect you know there's consequences for your actions and your intentions,".

Galadriel reflects on this now with a striking observation. "If Karma happened almost immediately we would notice it and we would realize how serious it is but it doesn't happen right away and so we don't realize how serious it is," she says. She made several choices by the river, some with effects she wasn't a fan of, but she realized they needed to happen.

One thing she knows for sure: "One of the things that I wanted to happen was I wanted to take care of my mother and I wanted to make sure I I got the chance to have a healthy family and that's what I have right now is a healthy little family," she says.

The Fear of Forgetting

After they finished with the river and the stones, Galadriel became afraid of something specific. "I was afraid that you know coming back into my body I'm gonna have all these struggles and all these things and I'm like what if I don't remember this experience," she says. What if her brain was damaged from all the trauma she'd face as an adult because of her childhood? What if she forgot everything?

The beings reassured her. "Well we can make it so that you can remember things when the time is right when you need to and and we'll you'll know," they told her. She doesn't remember exactly what they said they'd do to help her remember, but they gave her that peace. Then it was time.

"Okay it's time to go back," they said. She stepped into the river. "I was backed sucked back down through that that's what it seemed like," she describes. She was in her room again, looking at herself lying there. "I was like that you know I should touch myself you know get in there," she says.

The Awful Heaviness of Being Alive

"I'm back in my body and it's cold and it's dense and I feel heavy and I'm shivering again," Galadriel says. "I'm like oh this is awful," she adds. She ran downstairs, sat by the fire, grabbed a blanket, and cuddled up. Her mom came over and told her dinner wasn't ready yet, that she hadn't napped for very long. Galadriel didn't tell her family what happened. Not then.

She kept it to herself for a long time. Until one day they were in the car and a song came on the radio: Angels on the Moon by Thriving Ivory. "That made me remember them because you know after this experience I just was fascinated by the moon and I would always stare at it but that song came on and that made me be like oh I gotta tell my family about this," she says.

She remembers her sister being mad that their parents were paying attention to Galadriel instead of her. But her mom started crying. "I just remember my mom thanking me like oh thank you for choosing to come back is what she said," Galadriel recalls. Her mom said she didn't know what she would have done if she'd fully lost her. Her sister asked what she even could have died from. Her dad said it was really cold in the house. They concluded it had been a death.

The Gifts That Followed

After the experience, things changed for Galadriel. She started having what she calls "future dreams" when she was a kid. She notices she has them most when she's taking care of her body, eating healthy, taking vitamins, and not drinking alcohol. "As soon as I stop drinking alcohol I noticed that I could start feeling things like other people's emotions and not not just my own emotions," she says.

She gives an example. One day at work, she was alone in the restaurant getting food ready, happy and thinking to herself. Then, before she even heard her coworker arrive, "I felt this like wave of sadness and just it felt like pressure on my body and I was like oh that's really I'm really sad like kind of angry like what's going on," she describes. Her coworker stomped by. His grandpa had just passed. He was a mess. She'd felt his grief before he even entered the room.

The message Galadriel wants to share is simple but urgent. "The I don't want to say seven deadly sins but really that's what they are the seven deadly sins are those emotional ties to things they really do bind you and like your spirit so be careful," she says. Once you have an emotional tie to something, it follows you. "The golden rule is super important because that's Karma," she adds.

What This Story Teaches Us

Galadriel Krump's near-death experience is one of the most detailed and instructive accounts I've encountered in years of studying these cases. What makes it remarkable isn't just the vividness of her journey or the compassion of the beings she met. It's the specific teaching she received about karma, choice, and the mechanics of how our decisions ripple through time.

The river metaphor is brilliant in its simplicity. We throw stones, small choices, into the flow of time. But we can't always see the boulders that follow, the consequences that cascade from our intentions. The beings weren't punishing her by showing her this. They were educating her. They were saying: look, you have agency here. You can choose. But you need to understand that choices have weight.

This is one of the most consistent patterns across thousands of NDE accounts: the life review isn't about judgment from some external authority. It's about feeling what you made others feel, understanding the full impact of your actions, and recognizing that love and harm both propagate outward in ways we can't always perceive while we're alive. Galadriel learned this at ten years old, standing by a river with three beings the size of skyscrapers, and she's carried it with her ever since.

The detail about her emotional bond to her mother is also significant. She learned that we travel with the same souls across lifetimes, playing different roles, working out different lessons. Her mom was her husband in another life. The beings made it clear that these emotional ties can hold us back if we're not careful, if we let attachment become a chain rather than a connection. But they also honored her choice to return for that bond, to work through the trauma she knew was coming, because the love was worth it.

What strikes me most is her honesty about how awful it felt to come back into her body. Cold, dense, heavy, shivering. This is the testimony of someone who has experienced consciousness outside the brain, free from the limitations of matter, and then been forced back into the meat. It's a reminder that what we think of as "normal" waking life is actually a profoundly constrained state of being. We are so much more than these bodies. Galadriel knows this because she's been outside hers, and she remembers what that freedom feels like.

She's built the healthy family she asked for by that river. She takes care of her mother. She senses other people's emotions when she's taking care of herself. She stares at the moon and remembers three giant beings who loved her enough to teach her about consequences, to let her choose, to promise she'd remember when the time was right. And here she is, remembering, telling us what she learned.

We're here to learn. That's what the beings told her. Every life is a classroom. Every choice is a stone in the river. And love, as always, is both the curriculum and the teacher.
