Amber Baker's Near-Death Experience: Breathing with Angels

A severe asthma attack became a three-night visitation that rewrote everything she believed about consciousness, limitation, and divine intervention

Thomas Wood·September 1, 2026·18 min read

It was 1:30 in the morning when Amber Baker felt her chest closing in. She'd been bedridden for weeks with the worst asthma flare-up of her life, gasping through each breath despite the steroids, the breathing machine, the trips to the emergency room. She was alone in her bedroom, certain this was the end. And then, through the doorway, a white silhouette appeared. Her grandmother, who had died years before, crossed the room and placed her hands on Amber's forehead and chest. What happened next would unfold across three nights in November 2018, a series of visitations so vivid and transformative that Amber would emerge a different person entirely, her understanding of consciousness, divinity, and human limitation completely rewritten.

Amber Baker's Near-Death Experience: Breathing with Angels

The Breaking Point

Before November 4, 2018, Amber Baker felt like her life was collapsing inward. She'd lost her job. Money was tight, tight enough that she couldn't fully provide for her children and had to ask for help, which filled her with shame. She was navigating the aftermath of a divorce, carrying guilt she couldn't seem to shake. "My life felt like it was falling apart," she says. "I was going through a hard time financially. I had lost my job. I felt like I was facing like a dead end everywhere I turned."

She describes this period as the lowest of her life, a time when negative thoughts circled like vultures. And then her body began to fail.

Amber had lived with asthma since infancy. She'd nearly died from double pneumonia as a newborn, and her lungs had been vulnerable ever since. But what struck in the weeks leading up to November 4th was unlike anything she'd experienced. "It was kind of a mystery illness," she explains. "The sickness that I had was a cold but it was extreme heaviness on my chest. I didn't feel like I could breathe or catch my breath and it was getting worse and worse and worse."

She saw lung specialists. She went to the emergency room for oxygen. Doctors pumped her full of steroids, 60 milligrams. She had her own breathing machine at home. Nothing worked. "I couldn't walk. I couldn't talk. I was in bed for weeks and weeks and weeks," she says. "I truly felt like this was the end. I didn't know how I was gonna get out of this experience."

The Night Everything Changed

On the night of November 4th, Amber wasn't sleeping. She couldn't. She was alone in her room, sitting upright, forcing herself to focus on each breath, trying to convince her lungs to keep working. Around 1:30 in the morning, something shifted.

"All of a sudden I got to a point where my whole chest felt like it was just closing in on me and I was gasping for air," she recalls. She started praying. Not the rote prayers of routine, but the desperate kind, the kind you pray when you think you're about to die. She prayed to her grandmother, a woman she'd been close to in life, begging for help.

And then her grandmother came.

"All of a sudden a white silhouette kind of like a hazy energy came through the doors of my bedroom. It was my grandmother," Amber says. "She came over to me in my bed and she energetically laid her hands over my forehead and then laid her hands on my chest and I felt that she was breathing into me."

Amber wasn't analyzing what was happening. She was too desperate for air. "I wasn't even thinking too much about what was happening right in the beginning because I was desperate to breathe," she says. "When I felt like my chest was opening and that I started to breathe I was just grateful."

But her grandmother wasn't alone.

The Arrival of Archangel Michael and Mother Mary

"All of a sudden this big energy came into the room," Amber describes. "The energy took up my whole body. The energy I could feel was bigger than my room, as tall as my ceilings. It filled the universe. And this was Archangel Michael."

The presence was unmistakable, overwhelming. "His presence was so strong it was just a thousand percent him. It was like a knowing," she says. Communication shifted. Everything became telepathic, thoughts transferring without words.

Then Mother Mary appeared. Amber felt her role was different from Michael's. "She anchored the space and love," Amber explains. "I never felt like she was the one communicating with me but she anchored the space and love."

Time began to behave strangely. "Everything was happening simultaneously," Amber says. "It was like time was slowing down and I felt it was eternity even at that time."

The three beings surrounded her body. "They surrounded my body lying on the bed and I felt again like they were energetically putting their hands over my body and they started to breathe for me, all three of them together," she recalls. "As they were breathing into my chest I was lifting up off the bed and then I would go back down on the bed and like my chest would open."

Leaving the Body

Something was happening to Amber's consciousness. "At some point my mind started to get bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger and my body started to get smaller and smaller and smaller," she says. "Until all of a sudden I was looking down on myself."

She was out of her body, traveling through what felt like a tunnel. "I was traveling also through what it felt like was this tunnel of Darkness," she describes. "It wasn't completely dark. It had a warm feeling. It had like a pink and an orange glow but it was also dark."

She spoke to them telepathically, confused. "I said I thought you were here to save me and now I'm dying, now I'm leaving my body," she recalls. She was simultaneously traveling through the tunnel and looking down at her physical form on the bed, experiencing both states at once.

The Teaching Begins

As Amber moved through what felt like time and space, Archangel Michael began to speak. He showed her moments from her life, her struggles, her mindset. "I felt that I was right back in the mindset or in the emotional experience of this hard time I was going through," she says. "And at the same time he was showing me the higher meaning and the higher purpose around it."

What he told her next would become the core message of her experience.

"He said you are not defined by your thoughts and feelings. You are not your mind. You are an unlimited omnipotent being. You are unlimited Consciousness," Amber recounts. "And we are bestowing upon you this miraculous healing, this divine intervention, so that you can see the power that you have because you are one part of a whole of this unlimited Consciousness which is source."

While he spoke, Amber could see them performing a healing on her physical body. "It felt like energy was going into my lungs," she says. But the healing wasn't just physical. They asked her to release the emotional weight she'd been carrying.

"They were asking me to release my guilt, to release my sorrow, to release my anger," she explains. "I had gone through a divorce and I was remarried but I had a lot of guilt around my divorce. I had a lot of Shame around my financial situation that I was in at that moment. I wasn't able to take care of my children fully. I had to ask for help."

She realized she'd been storing all of this in her chest. "I had stored all this emotional trauma in my chest. It must have been part of the asthma that I was feeling," she says. "And they were asking me to release, to release, to release, to release. And they were asking me to receive."

Becoming One with Source

Archangel Michael told her something that felt impossible: she was about to become one with God.

"He started to tell me that I am not my body, that I am boundless, that we are all boundless, that we are all unlimited again in Consciousness," Amber says. "And that our true Essence is this unlimited State of Consciousness, this omnipotent power that we have within us that is source."

"And then he started to tell me that now I'm going to become one with Source, become one with God, so that I could feel what it was like to actually be the source that I stem from, that I am part of, that is within me, that we are all connected to," she recalls.

As he spoke, the words didn't just convey information. "The words vibrationally infused into me and it became an embodiment," she says.

She asked her grandmother how this was possible. "I said Grandma how is this happening and she said because you are my twin flame, you are my twin Soul. We are Never separate, we are always connected," Amber recounts.

Then Archangel Michael brought her to something she struggles to describe. "He brought me to an energetic force, a Divine force that was almost felt like a ball of light but it was more than that. It was the center of my Consciousness and it was God," she says.

"And I became one with God. I became one with source," she continues. "And as I became one with this I had infused into me or activated I should say my divine presence and I had the feeling of euphoria, the feeling of bliss, the feeling of Eternity and the feeling of the universe within me and me within the universe."

What they told her next reframes the entire human experience. "They said that we are the universe. We are one part of a whole. Our true state is never in separation from this aspect of divinity that is within us, that we are this spark of divinity," Amber explains.

The Three-Night Visitation

Archangel Michael told her this was just the beginning. "He told me that they're going to come to me for three nights and that I am going to go back to my body," Amber says. "And that this first night was a recognition. This first night was almost the information and the knowledge for me to understand why and where I was so off track in my life, so out of Center, so out of this state of divinity."

They showed her how she'd been living in limitation. "They had showed many areas of my life where I felt that I was defined by my thoughts. I was defined by my mind. I was defined by my feelings," she recalls. "And that if I thought something or if I felt something that was who I am, that was my experience. I didn't know how to go beyond the circumstances I was in. I didn't know how to access that higher power, that omnipotent unlimited presence that is unlimited possibilities."

They spoke extensively about belief systems. "They talked a lot about Unlimited possibilities and how I was defining myself based on the limited beliefs that I felt about myself or that others placed on me," she says. "And they told me that when someone does on to me a limited belief that I can bless them with love and I can let it go."

Archangel Michael explained the structure of the three nights. "This first night was a recognition. That they would come to me for a second night and that would be an Awakening. And that they would come to me for a third night and that would be a rebirth," Amber recounts.

The Return Through the Chakras

As Amber began traveling back to her body, the beings explained something about the nature of consciousness itself. "They started to explain to me that our Consciousness is stored in our energy centers in our body and our chakras," she says. "And that they were going to drop my awareness back in my body through my chakra system starting at the top of my head."

The process was methodical, visceral. "As they dropped my awareness into my crown chakra at first I started to feel the color of that energy and the feeling and what was kind of stored in that chakra," she describes. "And then it was like this drop in from the top of my head down down down and through each chakra I was reassimilated back into my body until my spirit became back into my body."

Before she fully returned, they gave her one final instruction. "They said to me focus on the Stillness," Amber recalls. "And there was a gentle swirl of wind around my body and they said meditate on the Stillness."

"And then all of a sudden I was just back in my body and I kind of shot up out of bed and started to cry because it was the most incredible experience of my life," she says.

The contrast was jarring. "The reshift from being one with God, from being in the energetic presence of God, of source, in my divine presence and in that state of complete unlimited omnipotent power and presence to then go back into the body, it was this kind of sudden reshifting feeling," she explains. "And it was also a longing feeling where I longed to stay with source, to stay with Archangel Michael, to stay with my grandmother. It felt jarring and it felt abrupt."

"So I just cried and cried and cried and cried," she says. Eventually, she fell asleep.

The Second and Third Nights

The next day, Amber still had asthma. "They had worked on my mind and my body and my soul but I was still experiencing asthma," she says. She went back to the hospital, wondering if the beings would return as promised. That night in the hospital, with nurses coming and going, they didn't come.

But the night after, at home, they returned. "The same thing happened and they came over my body and they started to breathe into my body," she recalls. "And there wasn't as much conversation at that time. It was more just an energetic healing of my body."

On the third night, something different happened. Amber woke to a voice that wasn't telepathic. "I woke up to kind of a robotic voice that sounded like it was coming from outside of me. It wasn't telepathic thought transfer that was how they seemed to communicate before. This was an actual voice in my room outside of myself and it sounded very robotic," she says. "And it just said my name. It said Amber Baker. And then snap."

She realized later what had happened. "That was the rebirth. It was a complete activation of my divine presence," she explains. "And after this experience I knew I wasn't the same person. I knew that something inside of me shifted."

The Mission

During the visitations, the beings told Amber what she was meant to do with this experience. "They had told me that I am a Healer, that I'm going to write books, that I am to spread this Mission and help others activate their divine presence," she says. "And that that is my purpose. Really it's all of our purpose in life is to awaken within our true Essence which is divine and that we are all unlimited possibilities, we are all unlimited in presence, we are not defined by our thoughts and feelings, we are Unlimited in potential."

After the experience, Amber's life transformed completely. "I felt like I had been living my life just so limited," she says. "I felt that I was living my life and I knew that I was living my life defining myself based on what was happening to me and not for me. I knew that I was operating in a very narrow limited sense of Consciousness like in a box."

"And then after this experience and my divine presence was awakened I tapped into this energetic Vortex of energy and everything about me felt new," she continues. "Everything about me I felt excited. I felt like I wanted to share my light. I wanted to help other people. I wanted to serve other people. I wanted to go fully into this spiritual awakening that I had based on this experience."

Her psychic abilities intensified. "I also had the complete activation of my senses. My third eye opened. I was able to see things and hear things on a heightened level," she says. "I had always communicated with Spirit my whole life."

Today, Amber works as a medium and spiritual healer. "Since then my life has really changed for the better. I do work now as a medium, as a spiritual healer and Mentor," she says. "I'm so grateful for this experience. I feel it has been a gift in my life and I love sharing about this with other people."

She's told her story multiple times across different platforms, including interviews about how divine intervention brought her back, what she learned about having it completely backward, and the rebirth process she witnessed. Each retelling emphasizes the same core message.

"I really hope that source, that God, the Divine realm and the spirit world looks at me as a conduit, as a messenger of light, as a messenger for the soul, as a messenger for spirit," she says. "And that's my mission now is to be a channel for source and to be a channel to help other people just always tap in to who they are without limitations because that is who we are, that is our true Essence and that we are not meant to live our lives small and to dim our lights. That is not at all where we are evolving to as a collective."

What This Experience Reveals

Amber's account is remarkable for several reasons, and I want to sit with a few of them.

First, the three-night structure. This wasn't a single event but a process: recognition, awakening, rebirth. The beings didn't just heal her and send her back. They returned, night after night, working on different layers of her consciousness and body. This deliberate pacing suggests something intentional about how transformation happens, how integration works. It wasn't instantaneous. It unfolded.

Second, the teaching itself. The core message Amber received, that we are not defined by our thoughts and feelings but are instead unlimited consciousness connected to Source, appears in NDE accounts across cultures and eras. But what's striking here is how directly it addressed her specific suffering. She was drowning in shame about money, guilt about her divorce, feelings of failure as a mother. The beings didn't dismiss these feelings. They showed her they were real but not definitional. They were weather, not climate. Temporary states, not permanent identity.

This matters because so many of us live inside our thoughts and feelings as if they're the whole story. We think we are our anxiety, our depression, our failure, our success. Amber's experience suggests something radically different: that consciousness itself is what we are, and that consciousness is vast, eternal, and connected to an infinite source of love and possibility. The circumstances of our lives, no matter how dire, are temporary. The divine presence within us is not.

Third, the physical healing intertwined with emotional release. The beings asked her to release guilt, sorrow, and anger as they worked on her lungs. This wasn't metaphorical. Amber felt the emotional trauma stored in her chest, and as she released it, her body began to heal. This aligns with what we're learning about the relationship between trauma, emotion, and physical illness. The body keeps the score, as the saying goes. And apparently, so does the soul. The healing Amber received addressed both.

Finally, the return through the chakra system. Amber describes her consciousness being methodically dropped back into her body, energy center by energy center, starting at the crown and moving down. She felt the color and stored energy of each chakra as her awareness reassembled itself inside her physical form. This level of detail is unusual. Most experiencers describe a sudden snap back into the body, often jarring and disorienting. Amber's return was structured, almost ceremonial, as if the beings were teaching her something about the architecture of embodied consciousness itself.

What I find most hopeful about Amber's story is the insistence that this divine presence, this unlimited consciousness, isn't reserved for mystics or saints or people who've had near-death experiences. It's in all of us. It's what we are. The work, as Amber now teaches, is simply to remember it, to activate it, to stop living inside the small box of limited beliefs and step into the vastness of what we actually are.

She didn't seek this experience. It found her in her darkest hour, when she was gasping for air in the middle of the night, certain she was dying. And what she was shown, what she was given, wasn't just for her. It was a message for all of us: we are not our circumstances, we are not our thoughts, we are not our failures. We are eternal, unlimited, and deeply, profoundly loved. And that changes everything.
